STYLES
Jazz
Jazz dance represents our popular culture and it is forever changing. It uses elements of ballet and modern dance set to popular music, including lyrical and contemporary styles. The class itself includes full body conditioning, progressions, centre work, style and choreography.
Tap
Tap class blends coordination and rhythm into a fun and timeless dance form. It consists mostly of rhythm and sound, and is an excellent way to increase coordination of the mind and body and is a great way to develop a sense of rhythm, timing and expression! In tap class, students will learn and explore rhythm, sound, technique, terminology, style and history.
Contemporary
The Contemporary style is a blend of ballet and modern dance. It builds a strong centre and combines precision leg work with fluidity of the torso. Contemporary dance encourages self-expression, natural movement and personal interpretation.
Lyrical
Lyrical combines the techniques of Jazz and Classical ballet. Lyrical is a slower, melodic, and more expressive form of Jazz often to ballad music. Dancers gain fluidity of movement, grace and control.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a soulful and diverse dance style, which creates fun and freestyle movement, influenced by the choreographers who create it. It is constantly evolving and has captured and transformed the music and dance world. The Hip hop dance style can be seen in music videos such as Beyonce, Jason Derulo, JLo and Justin Timberlake.
Acro
Acro class teaches tumbling skills and tricks which can be incorporated into dance. The instructor will challenge each student individually, through progressions involving basic skills, strength and flexibility.
Musical Theatre
Our musical theatre class is a whole lot of fun! They encompass a whole range of activities for our students like learning to sing, performing in character and acting out musical scenes, all whilst using their dance techniques. It is great for building stage confidence. Musical theatre also helps to prepare students for theatre auditions for big shows that tour around Australia, such as Matilda, Aladdin and Mary Poppins!
Pilates
Pilates is described as the art of controlled movements. It improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance.
